Obituary - Dr Timothy Allum

1933 to 2018

Dr Timothy Allum MBBS FFARCS died on 20 December 2018 at home following a long illness.

He was a much loved and admired father of Fiona, John and Karen and Grandfather of Olivier, Jessica, Julian and William.

Timothy lived a full life experiencing a war torn London as a child and attended Mill Hill School, London before moving onto the London Hospital Medical School becoming an anaesthetist. During his national service he attained the rank of Major in the Royal Army Medical Corp.Whilst serving in Cyprus he met his army midwife wife JamesIna, sadly missed, and on returning to England they built a life together with their children in Buckhurst Hill, Essex.

Timothy continued to work as a consultant anaesthetist in the NHS becoming Medical Director at Whipps Cross Hospital, often to be seen with a cigar clamped between his lips between operations. He worked extensively in the private sector helping to establish the position of many of the local private hospitals.

Following his retirement he continued to travel extensively and spent many happy times in France with family and introducing his grandchildren to his intellect and wicked sense of humour.
